Overlooking St Ives bay with its clear waters, and three miles of Golden Sands, the local area has many attractions to keep you entertained. The impressive stretch of sand are popular with sand yachts and kite buggies as well as great for long walks.

Hayle river mouth is famous as one of the best Kite Surfing locations in Europe and lessons can be obtained through Professional Kite Surf School Mobius.

Surfing is also a very popular at Hayle, with most of the Surf School’s operating from the far end of the beach at Gwithian due to its bigger waves. GAS (Gwithain Academy of Surfing) and Shore Surf are two of the local highly recommended Surf Schools that run lessons throughout the year.

The Hayle Estuary is a haven for wildlife being a RSPB nature reserve with many different waterbirds being spotted all year round.

St Ives Branch Line

st ives branch lineThis picturesque train line, is one of the most scenic branch lines in Britain. Don’t struggle for parking in St Ives take the Park and Ride.

Join the branch line from the main line station of St Erth, or use the Park and Ride facilities at Lelant Saltings (Post code TR26 3DL). A car park is provided for over 200 cars and is next to the branch line linking Carbis Bay and Portminster, St Ives. The Park & Ride is recommended in the summer months when parking is more difficult.

This branch line is so famous that the Queen took it when she visited St Ives in 2013, and was voted in Britain’s 10 most scenic rail journeys by the Guardian.
